Check out this fabulous way of empowering women:

“Same Sky employs HIV-positive women in Rwanda who survived the 1994 Genocide. Instead of a hand out, we give them a hand up and a chance to rebuild their lives.”

Each striking glass-bead bracelet is signed by the woman artisan who made it.

“These artisans crochet bracelets and work in a collective where they are encouraged and free to discuss social issues of the day such as domestic violence, western medicine, and opening a bank account… The artisans earn wages that are 15 times the average wage made by women in sub Saharan Africa. The income they earn ensures they can provide food, education and healthcare for their entire families.”
