Goldman Sachs: “Women Hold Up Half the Sky”

According to a Goldman Sachs Global Economics Paper entitled “Women Hold Up Half the Sky”, women’s empowerment efforts have a measurably positive impact on the health of national economies.

“At the macroeconomic level, female education is a key source of support for long-term economic growth. It has been linked to higher productivity; higher returns to investment; higher agricultural yields; and a more favourable demographic structure… greater investments in female education could yield a ‘growth premium’ that raises trend GDP growth by about 0.2% per year.”
